Seasons Through Black and White
“This design is inspired by the complex geometric patterns found in Mi’kmaq porcupine quillwork. There are several elements in this piece that speak to the changing of the seasons, inspiration from the land, and movement across time and place. This embedded story, along with other visual elements for the Mi’kmaq culture, make up the overall design.” -
Jordan Bennett

Red Porcupine Quill Mountain (Mekwe'k kawi kmtn)
“Composed of various elements found in Mi’kmaq quill and spruce root designs, this piece focuses on the stepped motif – a representation of a mountain. The stacked lines are based on quillwork to represent the soil horizons, while the arch over the mountain represents the sky, or, depending on orientation, the water.” - Jordan Bennett
